Profiles in Branding: The Red Hat Society
Unless you have lived in a cave for the past few years, you have seen them in your community. A group of women over 50 years of age dressed as pimps. Big red hats with feathers, boas draped around their shoulders, purple velvet suits, as gaudy as you can imagine. These ladies are no pimps. They are members of a popular women over-50 group, The Red Hat Society. The Red Hat Society beginnings started in a thrift store in 1997. Queen-Mother (official title), Sue Ellen Cooper, purchased a special red fedora. A few months later, Cooper gave a similar fedora to a friend, along with the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph. In the "Warning" poem, Joseph writes about an older women in what eventually became the official "Red Hatter" uniform, red hat with a purple outfit. By 1998, The Red Hat Society was well on its way to spreading across the globe! What makes The Red Hat Society brand so powerful? Although there are many reasons, here are the top three:1) Eye-catching Uniforms: The Red Hat Society has a consistent look. You see it in organizations, but in how many associations have you seen it? I have never been able to look at a group of people in a park over 100-yards away and say, "oh, looks like the local Rotarians are having lunch in the park." However, I have personally done that with The Red Hat Society. The outfit makes it easy to see who is

    Expense Report Approval
An expense report is the statement listing all the travel expenses of an employee owing to a business visit or pleasure visit. The employee has to fill up the standard expense report of his employer either online or manually and submit it to the authorized Approval Department within a specified time period for claiming reimbursement. The employee has to furnish the signature of the authorized person who has approved his visit. He/she needs to submit all the vouchers and bills of his expenses during his travel like air/train fare, hotel accommodations, transportation expenses, food expenditures and others. It is the responsibility of the employee to obtain the prior approval for his visit from the appropriate authority. The appropriate authority differs from organization to organization, and it will be decided by organization’s structure. The approval authority may sometimes be the immediate boss or departmental budget officer.Once the employee gets the approval from the concerned authority, the company may give some advance amount for meeting substantially higher expenses like travel-fare, or provide an advance for hotel accommodations, etc. However, the employee should not use the advance amount given for travel fare for lodging, conference fee or for other expenses. He/she should the specified advance for the respective purpose only. The request for an advanc
Most of the time, competition stimulates us, gets our juices flowing, generates creativity, a sense of excitement, and motivates us to perform at our best. Looking for work is another matter! When it comes to financial survival, to regaining independence and self-worth, competition can be crippling.

We apply for a job in the fervent hope that hundreds of others are not also applying. Finding work is too serious an issue to be considered a game or a sport. We need to find that position that will make everything all right, make us believe in ourselves again, and help rebuild the self-esteem and self-confidence shattered by unemployment.

Unless we are very lucky, there will be competition for every position we identify. Our remaining option is to set ourselves apart from other hungry applicants.

Color Documents: Which Color Type Is Best?
When creating a document, whether for screen or professional reproduction, adding a color can make a definite statement, catch your audiences attention and judicious use of color has been proven to increase sales and conversion rates considerably.Adding color to a web page, this poses little problem. Pick your color and there it is. But if you are having your document reproduced on paper, what type of color required by your design should be one of the major considerations.Spot colorWhen thinking of color on a document, this is what most people think of. Spot color is best suited for such things as solid borders, colored text, and colored lines. It is defined by Pantone, an industry standard in color as: “Any color produced without screens or dots”.“Screening” in it's most simple definition, refers to lightening or making a color more transparent by reducing the overall coverage. In the offset process, this is accomplished by “blocking” a percentage of the overall coverage through the use of dots. More dots result in a heavier coverage and less transparency. This should not imply a spot color cannot be screened, merely the color itself is not produced through the use of a screen. RGB RGB stands for “Red, Green, Blue”, the three primary color components utilized in this system. You are pr

p>We all hate failure. We don't like being rejected, judged, or found inadequate in any way. Trudging on, day after disappointing day, requires all of our reserves of energy, reserves that are rapidly becoming depleted. From having to constantly present ourselves as enthusiastic and creative, we become blue, bummed, and bone-deep exhausted. We wonder how much longer we can keep up the fa?ade of self-confidence that we secretly admit has long ago evaporated. How can we present ourselves as competent, successful, and eager when in our heart-of-hearts we have accepted that we are a despised failure in a success-oriented culture?

The secret is to keep plugging away. No matter the number of disappointments we have experienced; no matter the number of rejections we have encountered; no matter the times when our age, our experience, our skills have been found wanting - we have to KEEP GOING. We never know if "this time" is "the one." We have to continue to act, no matter how difficult or painful it may be, as if this were the one position we have been seeking.

Ask any newly hired worker and they will tell you that just as they were about to give up, along came the gold at the end of the rainbow. Not giving up, no matter how discouraged you internally feel, is the secret weapon in finding a position, no matter how long it takes for
