People in your organization come to you for answers and you better have the answers. But in reality even the best of the best Leaders doesn’t always have the answers. Don’t we all make mistakes? Remember, Leaders were followers at one time themselves!
But as Leaders we take even bigger risks – We make ourselves available to teach, train, and motivate! The Leader that is the Greater Leader – Leads by Example! He or she is out there in the trenches leading blazing a trail. Do the people in your organization see you out there doing what you teach them to do? How can you lead if you are behind pushing? No You Have Got To Lead The Charge – Get Out In Front And Go, Go, Go!! There are those that reach a certain plateau and then they figure I have made it so they drop off the scene. It is time to kick back and enjoy the price of my labors – "Eat, Drink, and be Merry!" This is a big mistake that a lot of Leaders make. You have got to continue being there for your Leaders (people). The way we have to look at this business is that it is not a retirement plan where we retire in a few years. This Business is our retirement. We are doing what we have always wanted to do – Networking with friends! How can anyone ever retire from doing what they love to do? Who has ever heard of anything so absurd?
Here is a good one for you. Someone wants to know how to handle a presentation or a certain situation. Can you tell them what to do? My friend if you are not actively involved in your business the answer is absolutely not! You have quit doing and so you have lost touch with the reality of this business! As they say practice makes perfect! If you are out of practice you are out of the loop! Stay in shape by staying in practice.
At this point in my career with my Networking Company of choice there are those that look to me for guidance and leadership. This absolutely scares me to death; do you know why? - Because I make a lot of mistakes. I don’t always react the way I should – I stick my foot in my mouth on a regular basis. I may be seen as a Leader but I still have this human problem. But here is a secret formula that will get you through most all those leadership mistakes – Love Your People and Let Them Know It! After all"love covers a multitude of sins" (mistakes).
