When you submit your articles online, you've got to know your keywords and use your keywords.

So here is a wee bit of a primer on knowing your keywords and using your keywords when writing and marketing articles. This could be a whole series of articles, but I'm going to give you the bottom line, and if you think you already know all this, hang in there, you might learn something new and besides repetition is the mother of mastery or something like that.

So a keyword is what people type into Google or Yahoo! or whatever search engine you may use, looking for information. And so depending on what keywords they type in, that's the results they're going to get back.

If you don't use keywords, when somebody types in looking for your information, they're not going to find it, and it's very important which ones you use, and it's very important for you to know which ones are getting the most play.

For instance, one of my friends, who's an individual mentee, approached me about a year ago now, and said "OK, I want you to help me build a web site, and I want to call it 'Advanced Relational Skills'." And I said, I'll be glad to help you, but we're not calling it that.

    Why?

He comes from an academic background and still struggles with writing that way, which is fine, to write that way, but it doesn't work on the Internet too well.

So let me tell you something: I took my friend over to this website, it's called inventory.overture.com, and that's a keyword selector tool. And so I typed in the word "relational" for my friend and there were about 500 views, or 500 searches under that word for the last month on record. So 500 people had gone on the Internet looking for something with the word "relational" in it.

How to Get 100s of People into Your Downline(s) in Just a Few Months

I joined a few affiliate programmes in the early days - more than I could handle back then - and more or less gave up on every single one of them. That's not to say there was anything wrong with the programmes, but I just couldn't get enough referral

My friend said, "I get it."

And that's why his site is called Advanced *Relationship* Skills, and not Relational Skills.

So whatever your niche, type in the words you think go with it, and then also look for other words that are combined with that word. The other place that you can find out other words that might go with that is called goodkeywords.com. Now both of these are free tools that I use all the time.

Bottom line - you know your keywords and use your keywords when writing your articles.
