2007 Thoughts on Adventures in Advertising for Advanced Entrepreneurs
Modern civilizations and societies are bombarded with commercial images. Advertising is everywhere and every business must engage in some form of advertising, publicity and public relations in order to succeed. But with advertising everywhere small businesses and corporations alike must compete for the consumer’s eyeball. Simply having a good ad is not enough and even having great placement alone will not suffice.I have titled this article book; Adventures in Advertising for the Advanced Entrepreneur, because advertising is an adventure and often an entrepreneur must chart unknown waters. Having started a small business, which grew into a rather large multi-state franchise system and later into a multination

I could understand that his knowledge is sufficient to run a small repair workshop. He was having a set of tools with him, only thing they needed cleaning and oiling!

Listening to Customers - 5 Tips
In a strange juxtapositioning of articles, this month's UK 'Management Today' has three pieces, relating to the importance of listening to customers.Susan Rice, CEO of Lloyds TSB makes it clear how vital it is for great leaders to listen and hear. She uses the example of how Coca Cola was swift to 'hear' it's customers when they revolted against New Coke back in 1985 (good job too, it was yuk!). She also rails against the viability of change programmes where over 70% fail to meet the original objectives. A dismal return, pretty consistently due to failing to hear the needs of staff as well as customers in the business.Fast forward to page 19,
    EKS - Waiting to create!
I have just then completed my Diploma in Advance Management in Energo Cybernetic Strategy (EKS).Though I was much convinced about the success principles of EKS, I wanted to conduct some business experiments.

I applied the EKS knowledge to my products and services one by one and understood that it could create miracles as promised in the course materials. So, it gave me great confidence to advice young entrepreneurs to follow certain special strategies designed by me.

He is a school drops out!
David, a school drop out, was 18 years old then. He used to go out and spend his time in front of a commercial complex, where I had an office. I was watching him daily. He used to help the family of the owner of the complex.

    He worked for others!
He was prepared to work for them to go any where to buy or bring any miscellaneous item necessary for their home. He was well used by them as an unpaid servant. He used to go to his home for the mid day meal and to the dinner at night. But, he made himself available to others to get his free service.

It is a wake up call for him!
I watched his daily routine and wanted to make him useful to his family. I called him once and asked to find whether he has interest to become helpful to his family. Suddenly, his eyes opened wide; I could see sparkle in his eyes. He accepted readily what ever I said to make an earning for his family!

    Bright idea crystallized!
I had a discussion to know all about him. It was just a discussion then. Now, I call this a ‘Brain Storming Session’ that resulted into crystallization of a business idea highly suitable for him.

The Interactive Map Meets the Data Visualization Needs of the 21st Century
Data VisualizationData visualization seems to be the trend of 21st century business. Since the internet has taken a leading role in everything from information to advertising to commerce, companies use interactive data visualization to reach out to consumers.Data visualization reaches into every aspect of business. Sales reports, inventory management, financial reports, and more are created with data visualization tools which make information interactive.By interactive, I mean that a user can click on a piece of information displayed in order to learn more details about it. This is called drilling down into an interactive map. Data visualization is created with mapping software an

Start Working Before You Get Hired
What if there were a way to *prove* to any sane employer that you alone were the one to hire?Would learning how to do that interest you? I thought so.I call this the "start-working-before-you-get-hired" job-hunting method. You can learn to do it in the next two minutes. And start getting more job leads today.Begin by understanding that getting hired for a job -- any job -- all boils down to one thing: proof. It's one thing to claim you're the one to hire. Anyone can do that. But can you prove it?According to Nick Corcodilos, author of the best-selling "Ask The Headhunter" (www.asktheheadhunter.com), "To get a hiring manager's attention, you should become an expert in his business, understan

Customer Service and Marketing Ideas; What is it That You do For Your Customers?
So I see you have a successful business over there and that is great considering the failure rates in businesses both small and larger more well-capitalized businesses. Have you considered why customers buy your products or your services; I mean what do you really do for your customers that the competition does not, will not or cannot?Have you considered that? You should know the answer to that if indeed you are in touch with your customers. So then, now you may answer the question and tell me; What is it that you really do for your customers and why have they chosen you over your competition? Have you yet considered what it is that you do for your target market and current customers, which keeps driving them b

    Something to Chew On
Before Christmas I found a display of older candy brands, and some of them made it into my cart. Among other things I picked up Beeman’s Chewing Gum to put in the stockings of several family members. While visiting my Dad before Christmas, he told me a story about finding something at the store and buying all they had. As he told me the story he tossed me a package of Beeman’s. I burst into laughter and told him he would enjoy at least one of the things in his stocking later…This all happened several weeks ago, and as I write this I am chewing Beeman’s Chewing Gum. If you are unfamiliar with Beeman’s it was invented in 1898 to ease heartburn, since it initially contained pepsin. Beeman’s was then a p

    Skill converted into a business!
I just asked him to get permission from the landlord of the complex for a few months to run the repair shop at the backyard of the premises. The very next day the new work shop was ready, of course it had no roof, no customers and no vehicles too.

He is ready now to perform the job of a two wheeler mechanic. But he is not an entrepreneur. He needs a ‘on the job training’ to become an independent entrepreneur.

Burning problem of two wheeler owners!
I had another round of discussion with him and as well with some people who could be a part of the target customers. This is just to know the real burning problem of the two wheeler owners, whom we should satisfy. This culminated into a sharp idea about the expectation of the people and the matching solutions! They wish to get more mileage and low expenditure in repairs and services.

    Offer through powerful words!
The next step is to make an irresistible offer to the target customers with a select catch phrase! This should make them to move towards the work shop when ever a need arise. There are variety of media through which you can inform the people about the new entrant and his offers. But this should be economical and cost effective. And above all, more certain it should be to bring the people into the business fold.

A visiting card a powerful print media tool!
A business strategy is designed to make use of the smallest print media tool to get the attention of the two wheeler owners of that area. It was a simple visiting card, strong enough to pull the crowd. The catch phrase assured to solve the problem of the consumers.

The card depicted a fast moving motor cycle with a clear name and address to bring the vehicle. The most important design part of the card was the ‘words of power’ displayed prominently to catch the eyes of the viewers!

    Extravert activity is informing outward!
