Keeping Your Offerings Easy to Use (Part 2)
Striving for simplicity in the design of our products and services is a major step we can take toward ensuring customer satisfaction, boosting our bottom line, and keeping our relationships smooth and headache-free.In Part 1 of this series, we explored a formula for customer happiness -- through the lens of what makes customers unhappy. One reason for customer frustration is that over time, many products and services tend to evolve, eventually becoming too complicated and difficult to use. In Part 2 (this article), we'll probe more deeply into how to reverse this trend by simplifying what we have to offer.A Quick Review of the Ease-of-Use BasicsIn Part 1, we recognized that consumers expect our offerings to work exactly as advertised. Yet our products and services can introduce complex requirements and burdens of their own, some of which can even prevent customers from doing what they were trying to accomplish in the first place! When this occurs, buyers not only fail to become "raving fans," th

Choosing The Best Name For Your Business
Choosing the best name for your business is a creative act, but it demands common sense as well. The business name should be catchy and easy to remember, it should reflect what the business does, and it should inspire confidence. One school of thought is that your business name should include the name of the town in which you live because that inspires some sort of official status. In previous years names of that type were popular and there may have been a point to that. If that is the case and you are an accountant living in Pittsburgh, then a name like Pittsburgh Accounting and Tax Service may serve you well. That name will appeal to more traditional and conservative customers. But, if your accounting service takes the stress away from doing taxes, and you want something a little more catchy, then Stress Free Accounting might serve your needs more.Avoiding the boring is important. Nothing is more boring than the first thought most people have—Your Name Enterprises. A business is an enterprise
Most of the entrepreneurs we interview in our consulting business have a very unrealistic conception of what excites and disappoints investors. The dream of many inexperienced inventors seeking to fund their opportunity is to build a substantial infrastructure. Their business plan identifies the need for factory space, equipment, staff, and many other fixed costs.

A Freelance Lifestyle - The Cons that Should Be Considered
If you are dissatisfied with your current career, you may be considering pursuing a freelance lifestyle. I love my life of a free agent and independent professional, but I would be remiss if I didn’t share some of the cons.Taking the Risk. There is always risk involved when we work for ourselves. Will we get enough work to sustain us and our bank account? Will we choose and/or find clients that are agreeable to work with? Will we do the level of work that our clients will be pleased with? I could go on for pages listing questions filled with doubt. My recommendation is to have faith in your abilities, realizing that if you love what you are doing, you have a strong chance that you will succeed. Risk comes with everything we do and can make what we do that much more exciting.Change Coupled with a Lack of Stability and a Regular Routine. If you have trouble dealing with change and a lack of stability, I suggest that the lifestyle of a free agent or freelancer is not for you. If just

    Ganging Print Runs
When you have multiple pieces that are all on the same paper and same ink colors you can sometimes gang or put multiple pieces up on the same press sheet. This saves on makeready, setups, plates and washups and can save $$$ if you are comfortable with some of the limitations that you might have.As an example let's say we are printing 8-8.5x11 brochures printed process on both sides. Our quantity that we want of each brochure is 5000. If a printer has a 40"(full size) press he can put all 8 of these brochures up on the same run. There is some potential real savings in doing this but there are some drawbacks. First of all, if you have all the brochures up on the same sheet and they are different families of colors let's say a blue color, a green color, a purple color, a red color and a yellow and orange color. Because these brochures are being printed in CMYK process screen mix you probably will have some compromise on matching any one of those colors of brochures on press. If you have critical colors tha

Telecommuting: The Dream Job Has Come
I am sure most would agree that a dream job would be one where you schedule your own hours, work out of your home and get paid well doing it. There has always been a small percentage of the work force population who have had this type of position ever since the dawning of the internet. Today, however, is a whole new ballgame. Job positions in a wider variety of career fields are now in the form of telecommuting jobs that do not require or require minimal visits at the job location. Nearly one hundred percent of the work can be done in the comfort of your home and communication done simply by phone and email. Though these positions may seem too good to be true, they actually exist for most careers and many small and large companies are incorporating telecommuting as a part of their working environment. Not only this, but many websites have emerged to cater specifically to telecommuting jobs by bringing together the freelance telecommuter and companies and individuals who want to contract them. T

These days if you don't blow your own trumpet then you are nowhere. The advertising balloon has caught the fancy of the advertisers who are thinking of flying high with their publicity dreams with it.What is an Advertising BalloonAn advertising balloon is a balloon which has some promotional slogan or graphic, printed across it. You can spot the advertising balloon swaying in the air usually in public spaces like above the fair grounds or in a marketplace, where it would have the greatest visibility. Why Advertising BalloonAn advertising balloon in essence will provide all the benefits that can be derived from any traditional form of advertising medium. stors want to see a plan that maximizes return on investment. High fixed costs are the enemy of a great profit margin. When business turns down, and it always does at some point, fixed cost assets become liabilities and must be continually fed, even as income declines.

Always present decision-makers with the most streamlined operations plan possible. Do not confuse grandiose staffing and equipment wants with actual needs. In today’s business climate, almost ever
