Phone Interviews: Prepare to Ace Them! ot sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.More companies are saving time and effort by doing initial telephone interviews before committing themselves to hours of time assessing and evaluating applicants. They are doing this because, frankly, it's a good way to save a team's time from interviewing obviously unqualified people. From your standpoint, this means that you need to develop an additional interview skill. One of the disadvantages of doing a phone interview is that they can't see how well you look or what a great suit you're wearing to the interview or that you own terrific ties. It also means that you can sit in the comfort of your home, rather than trudging to their site. With this opportunity, comes problem. The major problem is that they can't see how well you look or what great clothes you own. All they can do is listen to your voice and the energy that you convey and listen to the answers to your questions; you, on the other hand, can't see when you've lost their attention or when you've bored them. There are no visual cues for either of you.But with preparation, you can do a fabulous job and get in the door. Here's a few pointers.1. For any interview, go to the company's website and learn about the firm. Also, if you can read a job specification on their s 7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. Every day we either get a ton of spam - or if we're fairly well protected by spam filters - only a few pieces.Like a large number of people, I don't use any spam filters. Ah. You think I'm insane. But wait. My problem is that I get a lot of email from marketing types which I want to receive. And the spam filtering software is not very sensitive to my needs. Even white-listing doesn't always work. So, I prefer to get all that spam and just delete it.Now this solution can work for me despite the time it takes to delete my daily overdose of spam. However, at the enterprise level, it's a whole different story. If you have a relatively large internal network with even a modest number of email users, you're looking at a major problem. And the more users you have, the worse the problem is.Sure, you can put up software on the mail server. Works, kind of. But pretty soon you may find you need to upgrade the mail server. And that's after you already put it on a stand-alone machine.Rather than continuing to buy ever more expensive software to run on a machine that keeps needing to be upgraded, you might want to think about a dedicated anti spam appliance. To give you some ide A German chemist named Joseph Wilbrand first made the chemical known as trinitrotoluene in 1863. We know it better as TNT. TNT is a powerful explosive from which bombs can be made. In fact, the explosive yield of TNT serves as the measure of the strength of bombs and other explosives. We learned on September 11, 2001, that a jet laden with fuel in its wings can be a flying bomb. People who fly on an airplane early in the morning often stay up late packing and preparing for their flight. They may grab a pillow and a blanket and go to sleep on the airplane. If any passengers went to sleep on the jets that hit the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, they would have gone to sleep on a bomb. Have we gone to sleep on a bomb? Have we gone to sleep spiritually? This world will explode with troubles such as the world has never seen. The world has become such a dangerous place because of terrorists that passengers are no longer allowed to carry even a bottle of water on an airplane. Surely the trials of life will come our way because time and chance affect us all. Are we spiritually awake and ready for the trials that will come and for the coming of Jesus Christ? Or have we gone to sleep on a bomb? The purpose of this article is to inspire you to be spiritually awake so that you will be ready for the trials and tribulations of life and for the return of Jesus Christ. Let Us Not Sleep Let us read an admonition from the apostle Paul about staying alert and not going to sleep spiritually in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11: Verses 1-3 1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (KJV) This World Does Not Know the Way to Peace With all the wars and conflicts in the world, there often comes a cease fire or an agreement to end the war. And all too often, the war resumes with even greater intensity because the rulers of this world do not know the way to peace. Verses 4-11 4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. (KJV) What Are We to Watch? What are we to w Monetary Flows, Consumer Debt, Policy, Trade Deficit and Reality on the jets that hit the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, they would have gone to sleep on a bomb.America has some monetary issues, which need to be addressed. First consumer debt is at issue; the average consumer is upside down in their cars, over extended on credit card debt and living in a house, which they may have 10-15% equity and probably less with all these new home sales on 2-3% down and all the re-financing to pay off short term debt. Second; lets look at Wal-Mart; You buy a product there, 6% goes to the employee, 10% is profit to the company, 80% goes to re-stock or the cost of goods sold. Of the 80% about 20-25% goes to China. Now then how long will it take at 433 Billion dollars a year for China to have all of our money, leaving no money flow for us to circulate? Well if we keep putting money into our economy, it would take forever, but if we do not then eventually all the money flow will go.Now some of that money comes back since expanding emerging markets need things, but only $1 in six is coming back to us. How is it coming back? Is it coming back in consumables? Are they buying automobiles? No, we cannot produce the automobiles as inexpensive as South Korea, Japan or India; our labor unions, regulations and factored in costs of lawsuits or even threats of potential lawsuits will not allow us to. So these emerging markets Have we gone to sleep on a bomb? Have we gone to sleep spiritually? This world will explode with troubles such as the world has never seen. (KJV)Have you thought about your logo colors and what they stand for? If you're like most people, the answer is no. Many people simply choose colors that they like, or colors that feel good. One CEO I know likes his designers to use the colors of his alma mater in the designs he was given. But colors have meaning and choosing the right colors for your logo can better convey your brand. For example, many banks, insurance companies and investment firms use blue and gray as their corporate colors because these colors represent stability, trustworthiness, and conservative ideas. While health clubs, spas, and specialty resorts often use green because it represents health, growth, and tranquility. When choosing your logo, take the time to think through what colors represent what your company stands for - then use them.Resolution is an important component of design. Why would anyone spend so much time and energy, and maybe even money, on a logo or other graphic design only to have it show up poorly when it is displayed? Resolution means how clearly your logo will appear in different applications. The higher the resolution, the better the clarity, and there are different file formats provide different levels of definition.A .gif file is This World Does Not Know the Way to Peace With all the wars and conflicts in the world, there often comes a cease fire or an agreement to end the war. What are we to Pros and Cons of a Structured Settlement ot sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. As with just about everything, structured settlements have both advantages and disadvantages. One key advantage is the tax benefits associated with a properly set-up settlement. An appropriately set-up structured settlement could very well reduce the plaintiff’s tax obligations. In some cases the settlement could avoid taxes altogether.Another advantage is that the structured settlement could also prevent a plaintiff from splurging all their money all at once. In this way, the structured settlement could be a sort of financial control. Instead of getting the money all at once and risking spending much of it on unnecessary or unwise transactions, a structured settlement’s periodic payments will help the plaintiff with paying for necessary costs before they spend the money on other things. However, this advantage could very well be seen as a disadvantage to many. Some people want to make big purchases, such as a car or home, and may prefer a large one-time lump sum payment to periodic payments. Even if they do not have desires for expensive purchases, some people may just feel that they would do better if they were able to invest their money themselves.Essentially, for those who might have a difficult time managing a large s 7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. (KJV) What Are We to Watch? What are we to watch? Watching world news is good to keep us aware of the evils that are happening and to see the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. However, primarily, we are to watch our own spiritual condition so that we are not weakened by the cares of this life. We need to be prepared for the coming of the Son of Man (Matthew 24:36-44). We must have faith in God; we must have hope in our salvation in the Kingdom of God; and we must love God and others, especially other members of the Church of God. In I Thessalonians 5, Paul emphasizes faith, hope, and love, just as he did in I Corinthians 13. Sigh and Cry for the Abominations in the World We need to be concerned about the people of the world also as we see the evils and abominations that hurt so many people. Let’s read what God told Ezekiel about the importance of being concerned about the evils and abominations in the world as shown in Ezekiel 9:1-11. Verses 1-4 1He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand. 2And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar. 3And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side; 4And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. (KJV) Linen The high priest wore linen (Leviticus 16:4), and it is symbolic of purity. The six angels who are to execute the judgment of God along with the man dressed in linen total seven, which is the number of perfection. What Were the Abominations? The abominations are discussed in Ezekiel chapter 8 and include idols portrayed in the temple. The people said that God had forsaken them and did not see their sins. Women wept for Tammuz. Men had their backs toward the temple of God and worshipped the sun as it was rising in the east. They filled the land with violence. To sigh at the abominations done in the earth means to
