Judging by this I can conclude that American people think that’s ok. However, it will shock any Russian!!! Most Russians won’t put on things of the dead. For centuries people made up horror stories about those who took the things of the dead! Folk tales are ruthless: those people either die or give everything back and repent :)

This is taboo that stays deeply in mind. Very often our clients order, for example 10 roses and we have to explain each time that odd number of flowers is given only to the dead. There was an incident when a Russian girl slapped a foreign man in the face with the bouquet of 4 roses!!!

The collision of traditions and mentalities is inevitable in international marriages! You shouldn’t be afraid of it, you should simply be ready. If there is love in your family, it will only enrich your spirit. You will find what you missed in your environment: new outlook, renewed life, family values. But how to achieve it and to overcome the first barriers of misunderstanding?

The advice is simple:

1. Communicate more with Russian people, learn their culture, take interest in customs. Be active: spend Christmas in Russia, take part in Russian wedding, accept the invitation to the birthday party of your lady’s friend, visit Russian church. At that, soak up the information like a sponge.

2. Try to read the books of the Russian authors. I know many clients who started looking for a wife among Russian girls after they had read Russian authors. I understand that it sounds impracticable! :)) Ha-ha-ha! But it is one of the right ways!

3. If you came to a difficult situation with your bride or a wife, don’t rush to make conclusions! Possibly, it is just the situation when your outlooks on life didn’t agree!
