Oh sure, there are tons of instances of reference to this - the Christian trilogy (symbolically), The Buddhist concept of the "Middle Path" (implying higher and lower paths), and many others in many other religions, philosophies, what have you.
The thing I'm talking about is the third factor. The black and white's grey, the space between left and right, up and down, forward and backward. The third portion is inevitable given the first two. The third is that scale which lies between the opposites.
Anything you notice is a gift. Evil is a gift because it allows for good. Darkness is a gift because it allows for light. You can not have one without the other, for without contrast, there is no concept. No concept, no experience.
And so the magic of life lies not in duality, but in the space in between which is permitted by the existence of the duality. It is best, in my mind, not to grasp onto one of the two end posts, but to walk the fence in the middle. You must learn to find a balance in all things in order to find the most peaceful, productive and joyful way to experience.
This process is different for every individual. Some get their kicks from war, some from peace. Some get their kicks from the in-between rallies against or for war. In doing so, they fight a war of their own, but on their own terms.

Contemplate yourself within it. Does that work for you?
Maybe it does, in which case you are found. But perhaps the opposite of that which you despise is not justly flavored for you, and you now have the challenge of finding your middle ground.
Learning to enjoy life is a process of finding your middle grounds in a world of choices, in learning to navigate the third portion of duality - the in-between.
Secondly, I must admit I've been pulling your leg a little. The primary purpose of this exercise is not just to identify your middle ground within duality, although that is a beneficial exercise. Primarily, the purpose of this exercise is to expand your mind a little, and get you thinking outside of your normal bounds. When you expand above duality and consider the third portion, you begin to find a folding point for your meditation. You may be able to fold away your notions of duality, triality, whatever you want to call it, and begin to see outside of the culturally taught boxes that we divide reality into.
When you begin to think entirely outside of "good" and "bad", "right" and "wrong", "pretty" and "ugly", "love" and "hate", you begin to cultivate a more natural impulse toward life, and you will find that, yes, many of your natural feelings towards things can be reclassified down into words that said what you were al
