If you will notice closely, that "act" you apparently committed is only conscious to you because it is stored in you mind/body as what you call the "memory" of the incident. What I do mean is that "it is no longer inside you" as if "it never happened"!
Well hypothetically, if it never happened then supposedly all of those negative feelings associated with it would also vanish, wouldn't they? Well of course because they wouldn't have anything there to anchor themselves into.
