Recently, several students from the Babson College MBA program called requesting an interview. They were researching the venture debt market and wanted an insider’s view of how this segment compares with venture capital. Their questions were thoughtful and I thought the discussion w

Then I found some meditations that appealed to me, and started to do them, and I relaxed some more. And something else quite magical happened.

In those moments of stillness, inspiration came.

Your brain is like that crowded room – loads of thoughts, and reminders, and stuff going on constantly. The telly and radio are on, there are people around, there’s no peace. No wonder your brain feels overwhelmed.

If, like me, you think ‘I don’t have time to sit still’ this exercise is DEFINITELY for you! If you can’t find 5 minutes in your day, then try for one minute. But make sure you do it. Now IS a good time to be still, in fact now is the perfect time to be still. From just one minute of ‘brain rest’, you will come back refreshed, rested and feeling better. You will find your brain will come up with all sorts of ‘new’ stuff, just from that little rest. In moments of quietness, you create the space for your heart and your intuition to be heard.

This is quite possibly the most important and useful exercise for managing stress I have ever been taught. Make it your own, and allow yourself to be still without thinking or worrying or 'doing' for an amount of time that feels easy...I hope you will find the time to ‘be’ today.
