Investment Series - Short Term Trading Battles Long Term Trading
Many people have this wrong perception... that short term trading strategy is risky and long term trading strategy is safe. Now, let me put this in an analogy. The capital markets is like a huge ocean and your trading strategy is like a boat on this ocean. Some think that the slow and steady ship is safer than the fast and furious speed boat, right? Now, if the speed boat runs a 20% chance of capsizing but takes only 1 day to reach your destination, wouldn't it be safer than to stay on the ship that takes 1 year to reach your destination, 90% safe from capsize but runs the unpredictable nature of the sea and its weather? The stock markets is as unpredictable as the weather today. Long term trading strategy for a 10% to 20% gain a year might really be something thought of in the industrial era where people love steady, long term growth. The world today can potentially be thrown into complete chaos at an insta

It's Never Too Late to Start
Yesterday night was Daegan's last day in Singapore, we sent him off to the airport to catch a flight back to Washington DC. Before he went through the immigration, we went for a drink at a Japanese restaurant. It was a nice last thirty minutes or so of heart to heart chat with everyone, and nothing much about our business. At some point of time I felt really fortunate to have exposed myself to such a like-minded group of friends. A choice I made that I will never regret.I sat in silence and thought to myself. Everyone make choices, you either make the right one or the wrong one. It's not as tough as it seems. If you want to succeed, you just have to make sacrifices and go for the right choice. Ultimately, our destiny is within our hands, our control. In a few more minutes, I'll soon turn 21 and I have a long way to go and many things to learn. It will mark a significant day in my life. Two years ago, I real
We hear about Positive Mental Attitude, NLP, Lateral thinking, meditation and success training of all sorts, but we seldom hear about "strategy training" for achieving success in life.

Positive Mental Attitude, NLP, lateral thinking, spirituality and meditation training are great skills to learn and a pleasant way to go through life with. Only of course, if their promoters confine them to what they are, and also explain their limitations and limited applicability to guide our success in life.

I came to the UK 28 years ago from Egypt at the age of 24, full of education, hopes, dreams and enthusiasm to make great success in the UK.... Boy.. Have I worked hard ... I started as a computer programmer at NCR UK Limited in London. Spent half my salary on books and gave double the hours needed to do my job. Exactly done what I was taught to do in order to succeed in life. I was even considered to be one of the best COBOL programmers NCR have ever had.

The years passed and successes were few and far in between. Salary increase was steady as you go with the occasional promotion to a higher grade; analyst programmer, team leader on so on .. but still the big ticket hasn't arrived.

I attended every seminar and training you could ever imagine on motivation, positive mental attitude, NLP, meditation, spirituality and Lateral thinking.

I read every book published by Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie and Earl Nightingale available on the same subject and I listened to hundreds of tapes on achievements while hoping to find the true formula for success.

From Tony Robbins to Brian Tracy to Jack black to Wayne Dyer, to Deepack Chopra to Tom Peters to Tony Bozan to Edward de Bono to Zig Ziglar to Stephen Covey to transcendental meditation and much (almost embarrassing to mention them all) more, you name the speaker, the training, the seminar, the tap or the book and I have been there.

Please don't take me wrong, these master teachers and their seminars, books or tapes are great and most enjoyable. They may also work for you.

But after a while I wondered if this stuff was the true knowledge of success and if the great and the mighty in business used this stuff to achieve the success we all hear about?

This Motivational training definitely served my employer well. Somehow it pushed me to work even harder and deliver more to my employer and with a pleasant attitude of course. But success of the kind I dreamt of still deluded me.

After ten years of working hard, delivering great results with very slow progress, I joined the House of Fraser group as manager future technology. Great step with huge potential... again I worked my socks off using all my PMA, NLP, TA, Dlla, lateral thinking etc to impress and deliver great results.

During this time I saw things in my division that I didn't agree with and I made the "fatal" mistake of voicing my "opinion" loudly and without any consideration for the above me. I was basically reacting to a wrong situation emotionally rather than thinking before acting.

Then... on a one cold Friday morning in February I was called to an office, given a letter and a check of ?300 for the three years I worked, while being told that my services is no longer needed. I was escorted outside the building with a nice goodbye.

To tell you the truth, I felt every possible negative emotion you could ever imagine at this moment.

Despite all my training and for few months to follow. I felt Sadness, shock, horror, fear, anger and of course great disillusionment and frustration were the order of the day and my life to come.

I limped on and searched hard for the following few months and finally got a reasonable job at the AA for half the salary I was earning but I had no choice during the early nineties recession.

I continued however to search for the true knowledge of success, I began to think differently. PMA, NLP and so on are new phenomena in this day and age that certainly made fortune for its promoters while they didn't really answer my question or led me to the promised land.

How did people succeed in life and how they built great fortune before "think and Grow Rich" book was published in the twenties and before all these training and seminars on success flourished based on this one book.

Till one day .. I read a book that shocked me to the routes and opened my eyes to a whole new world of "conscious thinking" and Achievements. "Thick Face Black Heart" by Chin-Ning Chu. What shocked me was a statement she made: "success through negative mental attitude" which basically meant that, against all the going wisdom, WE CAN SUCCEED THE WAY WE ARE!

Chin-Ning used many quotes from great and timeless treaties like the Tao Te Ching and Sun Tzu the Art of War. I started in earnest to study both treaties and the culture behind them... and my life was not the same again.

I learned that most people (like me) react to challenges using their "natural" Fight or flight response. I learned that Nature is not fair; it sides next to the strong against the weak, the large against the small as we can see around us all over the world, in other words "survival for the fittest".

I learned that twenty five hundred years ago, the great General Sun Tzu discovered a "loophole" in Nature. He found a way that the weak can triumph over the strong and the small can topple the large.

Hence his Art of War treaty was only available throughout history to the ruling classes of China and other empires but never to the ordinary people like me.

When this treaty was first translated in the west by a French scholar, it landed at the hand of a French soldier, he loved and studied carefully. He went on to conquer Europe.. His name was Napoleon.

TENS Machine - Modern Natural Pain Relief
The TENS machine has now become a popular option for people who wish to relieve the pain that they are feeling, especially those who suffer from persistent or chronic pain. Although there have been many studies carried out as to the effective ness of this machine in which some it concludes that they do seem to help alleviate pain for some people, but in others it does not. Therefore further research does need to be carried out to clarify the role of this machine in modern day medicine and its effectiveness. It however seems the TENS machine does seem popular in helping to deal with various painful conditions and the popularity of the machine would certainly imply that seem effective in helping to reduce pain that people are feeling. However, the amount of pain relief that is provided by the machine is likely to vary from patient to patient, even those who are being treated for the same condition.A TENS (Transc

Natural Solutions For Living With Diabetes
Diabetes is a ever growing concern in todays world. It has had its largest impact in the in the western world as we become ever busier with time crunches, due dates and quotas to meet. During earlier years diabetes was not nearly as much of an issue. Many believe this is the result of many differences in society, for example having more physical jobs rather than desk jobs, lack of preservatives in food as opposed to food saturated in preservatives today, people also ate a much more balanced diet rather than eating fast food in a hurry. Many would agree that this major change in our society and the way we live pose the greatest threat for those dealing with diabeties or in danger of acquiring diabetes.Another real danger in this world is the overwhelming amount of carbohydrates that we regularly consume. Now carbohydrates, also known as carbs are essential for energy production in the body with the help of insulin.
