Using technology, processes were described and introduced with the idea to “mechanize” almost any job, and aiming to reduce the failure-rate close to zero. Jobs were described, down to the nitty-gritty detail, taking away the freedom of choice from people, thus reducing them to a kind of robot. Many jobs just became dispensable and were slashed. Other jobs were taken away and “exported” to countries with cheap labor. All this is still done today at an ever-increasing speed. The idea is to do whatever it takes to maintain or increase the profitability thus satisfying the shareholders.
