Woman Owned Company is Covering Los Angeles and Beyond
Modern technologies like the Internet have revolutionized the way many of us do business, and have opened up many opportunities for new enterprise. And yet, all of these innovations pale in comparison with the "old-fashioned" values of hard work, fair business, and sheer strength personality. The Nathan Kimmel Company, started by Nathan Kimmel in 1956, is an prime example of how one family's hard work, lead by a memorable man with an unwavering philosophy of
The summer is coming and that means plenty of things. For most, there’s a vacation coming. There are bar-b-cues on hot days with friends and family. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a pool for everybody this year?

I went to a friend’s house a few summers ago and he had just got his pool from a department store. It was quite a bit of money and it was supposed to be able to hold several good sized adults. We had steaks on the grill and the pool was all set for a nice little bar-b-cue. It just didn’t happen that way.

We let the kids play for awhile and that was the end of the pool. The sides came out and water went everywhere. The bar-b-cue wasn’t quite ruined because we got a good laugh out of picking wet kids up all over the yard and seeing if they were alright. But, my friend sure wasn’t happy with how much money he had just watched wash away.

I had been working with 84 Lumber and helping them with their projects planning. I had noticed a few things in the projects we were completing. Nothing is as hard as it seems. We drew up plans for a banker’s house and he pretty much did all the work himself. He hired a few contractors for the major work. He ordered the materials from 84 Lumber. But, he did nearly everything else after the foundation and the framing were complete.

I also watched him put in a pool over that summer. Every time he would need more supplies for his home, I would make sure I was on the delivery so I could see how things were progressing. I always checked the pool. He basically dug a hole, filled it with a fiberglass pool shell and then landscaped the surroundings. I didn’t see anything in that project that was all that hard.

So, I developed the in-ground pool that everyone could afford. If you have a nice yard where a pool can go, you can have a pool in about 2 or 3 weeks if you got on top of the project and stayed on top of it. It is as easy as hiring a contractor for a few hours to come dig your hole. That should only cost a few hundred dollars at most because that’s all you need your contractor to do.

Then you fashion the hole in the shape of the swimming pool you want, install your filtering system, pour sand and put in a liner. If it were any more difficult than that, I wouldn’t feel comfortable telling everyone to go do it. A filtering system can run as low as about $300. Your lining isn’t much more than that. So, you can easily look at a pool installed in-ground in your yard for as low as $1000 if you cut all of the frills out of it and just fill it with water.

But saving you that much money only means that you can add some great stuff to your pool. You can have diving boards, water fountains, unique seating and beautiful lighting. Now, it’s just a matter of your own imagination.
