Here in Indiana the House committee in Indianapolis is pondering a new law today. It is called the C.J.'s Law. If approved it will require all mobile homes and manufactured homes in Indiana be equipped with a weather radio. The bill, authored by Representative Phil Hoy, is the brainchild of tornado survivor, Kathryn Martin, who lost her 2-year-old son, C.J., in the Nov, 06 2006 tornado that hit Evansville, IN. Martin testified before a House committee in Indianapolis in support of a bill in memory of her son, C.J., who died in the November 6 tornado

I personally have divided thoughts about this law and several other laws that are now already in effect. Do we need government telling us what to do when it comes to our personal safety?

Don’t get me wrong… I do believe that weather radios are a good thing. I sell them and use them myself. I personally feel they could save lives by giving advanced warning of tornadoes and other severe weather situations.

But I also feel this should be our choice to choose to use one or not and which one to use. I feel that the manufacturers are going to pass the cost on down to the consumer in effect making them buy the weather radio regardless of if they want it or not and whether it is the one they prefer to use or not. All brands are not equal.
