A webmaster ads a FFA links page to his site for two reasons. First it is a great traffic builder. Second, in exchange for allowing posted links, the webmaster (under the terms listed on 99.9% of all FFA sites) will send (using a cgi script) a short confirmation of the successful post to let the poster know the ad was received.
