Roll Up Garage Doors
The first roll up garage doors appeared on the market in 1956 and was called Roll-a-Door. They were manufactured by an Australian company called B&D and were believed to have been inspired by a roll up door made from sheets of corrugated steel in the Middle East. These first garage doors that rolled up were made from a press-baked curtain sheet and contained many patented ideas, such as the Nylofelt, which is still used by many manufacturing companies. The company was sold to Porcelain Veneer in 1968, but it still continued to manufacture the doors and by 1977, the Roll-a-Door was licensed for sale in 17 countries of the world.
