God Became Man

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. --JOHN 1:14 For thirty-three years Jesus felt everything you and I have ever felt. To think of Jesus in such a light is—well, it seems almost irreverent, doesn’t it? It’s not something we like to do; it’s uncomfortable. It is much easier to keep the humanity out of the incarnation. There is something about keeping Him divine that keeps Him distant, packed, predictable. But don’t do it. For heaven’s sake, don’t. Let Him be as human as He intended to be. Let Him into the mire and muck of our world. For only if we let Him in can He pull us out. Listen to Him.

What Does Jesus Expect?

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. --ROMANS 5:8 Expectations create conditional love. “I love you, but I’ll love you more if.” Now I know what you’re thinking. Shouldn’t we expect the best out of one another? Shouldn’t we encourage each other to strive for excellence and never settle for anything else? Absolutely. But it was Christ who taught us how to use expectations. Does He demand a lot? You better believe it. Does He expect much? Only our best. Does He have expectations? Just that we leave everything, deny all, and follow Him. The difference? Jesus’ expectations were accompanied by forgiveness and acceptance.

Immediately after this person gives you this horrifying information, another person appears and tells you that all of the money you’ve invested in the stock market was bad investments and now you are penniless. Can you even imagine that?

Thinking Out Loud (Answers) Part two of a two part series

Awareness constantly leads to more questions. The closer you get the farther away you are. One morning after years of writing, all the questions came up at once and then the next day the answers. The same questions and answers. Life is about experiencing all aspects of being from every conceivable angle, and so the questions may seem the same but the answers are slightely different each time. I have come to realize that the questions are more important than the answers.

Spring Cleanup

With the end of what seemed to be a never ending winter, we are now ready to start cleaning up around the house. We are anxious to lighten the load and get rid of unwanted junk. Some of it we get tired of or have outgrown. We either do one of three things, throw the stuff out, give it away or sell it because it still has some value. How much easier it is for us to clean up our property than it is to clean up our inner souls? When we get rid of this junk, we are that much richer for it. Sometimes we can't put a price on things that really matter. What is your freedom worth to you?
