What an interesting week this last week has been. All sorts of weird things happening to my Christian sisters it seems. One was very ill (she suffers from a rare disease sort of a like an environmental disease ) another hurt her knee running, another's husband had TWO serious heart attacks on Friday and it was also discovered he has diabetes, and another told me doctors have found maybe breast cancer in both breasts plus her ongoing problem with her stomach. Oh boy, makes Home sound so nice! I wondered though, why so much of this has not only been happening but why the Lord has put them all in my path. I wondered why he has given me such a burden for healing in others and that includes their pets....

It is not a simple process because before one can cross, unknown dangers may have to be faced and terrifying battles fought. This is what Jacob discovered. To cross over into Canaan was not just a matter of crossing a stream, because in the darkness a strange and mysterious presence arises. Ancient tales had it that rivers had spirits which had to be defeated before the river could be crossed.

At times when we think honestly, if we stop deceiving ourselves, we are forced to admit that life per se can become an unmitigated horror. Not only are we threatened by wars, financial shifts and joblessness, the calamities of nature and narcissistic manipulators, the very earth itself treats us with supreme indifference. The beautiful and productive world we inhabit slowly but surely converts every plant that sprouts a stalk and each creature that draws a breath into fertilizer to feed yet another doomed generation.

We are being called upon to find “The Way” to navigate through life’s ever-shifting experiences with more peace, compassion and acceptance. Simple practice, like returning to the calm place within ourselves, helps us find more peace in life – despite the ever-changing fortunes of time. Herein, we grow our beings and our connection to our God.

Still, it's difficult to look around and see people getting away with acting in ways that are clearly in defiance of our faith - and getting away with it! Fortunately, we know that the Lord also sees this, and we are assured that He will deal with it in His way and timing. We’ve all heard the saying, “You have to forgive, but you don’t have to forget.” I won’t refute that, but you have to agree that a lot of people use that excuse to never ‘really’ forgive at all. Are you one of those people?

The inescapable fact of the matter is that by ourselves, we cannot do what is right. We just do not make the grade. Knowing the rules whether they are golden or silver, do not make us able to obey them. We keep on falling into a trap called sin.

After returning from a camping vacation, hopefully we will feel refreshed, we will have a better appreciation for our modern conveniences, we will have made some good memories, we will have strengthened relationships, and we will have brought our life a little more into balance.

When my dad was nearing the end of his life he began searching his heart to see if there was anything left undone - some unconfessed sin, a misdeed, anything at all he needed to make right before he faced God. He constantly prayed that the Holy Spirit would bring to his remembrance anything he needed to make right with his fellowman. It was during this time that he came across a rusty old garden tiller at the edge of his garden. It belonged to a farmer down the road who had sold it to Dad, but, when it didn't work, the farmer returned his money to him and told Dad just to bring it back any time.

Some people think just by saying the words thank you is just. Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Just because something negative happened in your life and knocked you off your feet, doesn't mean you have to stay sitting down on your backside. GET UP!!! We all fall down. But the one's that become successful are the ones that GET UP and try it again!!!

Often we are addressed with reminders, assertions, and at times even pleas, that we are “all one”. We are all human. We are all the same at some level. We all bleed red. At the sub-atomic level, we are all made up of the same stuff. Or are we?
